Responsibilities
Katrin Petroschkat is a post-media artist and cultural scientist who creates, facilitates and realizes projects in contact zones of art and science.
She is head of STEAM projects (Telekom Foundation), especially the Dawn Chorus Art&Science project (www.dawn-chorus.org) together with Dr. Susanne Schmitt.
Petroschkat studied Fine Art at Art Academy Munich, Cultural Studies at Humboldt University Berlin, and holds a PhD in Applied Art and Culture Studies from Art University Linz.
In her artistic practice she develops methods of involvement that draw on a bricolage of artistic, inscenatory and epistemological practices by means of sculpture objects, spatial staging, photography, video and performance.
She often works in project-related collaborations with partners from scientific institutions or interdisciplinary thinktanks. Recent projects include BARFLY – a bar with distilled plant beverages that serves humans and insects (with Susanne Schmitt), stucco reliefs with herbivory leaf damage developed in interdisciplinary dialogue, as well as a hydroponic working desk for Fraunhofer network "Science, Art and Design" that is also currently also set up for use at the LMU Biozentrum.
As lecturer and supervisor, she has been teaching at Art University Linz, Technische Universität München and Art Academy Munich, as well as art-tech school programmes for the City of Munich and the City of Ausburg. She also works as art-science educator for ERES-Stiftung Munich.
